KIWEESA PARISH

This Church began in 1936 and is seated on 0.25 Acres which were donated by Mw Kabu. The head of the church at that time was Rev. Binayiisa the Father to the former President of Uganda Lukongwa Binayiisa.
In 1960 the first church to be roofed with iron sheet was built and it used to serve as a church as well as an infant school. The lay Readers were Omubuulizi Erifaazi Sserunkuuma, Kyeyune and Asaafu Kisuule Kikwalo.
In 1975, a bigger church was built with ironsheets and the head of laity who spearheaded that task was Mulasa Eriyasaafu and the treasurer was Kigozi Abiasaali. Other members who fully participated are; Ssalongo and Nalongo Ssekitooleko, Yonasaani Kiwuuwa and many others. The lay Reader during that time was Omubuulizi John Walker Munyambonera and his wife Harriet Munyambonera.
The First Rev to be posted in Kiweesa was Rev. Canon Nasani Mpanga and followed by Rev. Canon Fredrick Kayondo, Rev Kasibante George William, Rev. Canon Benon ne Rev. Canon Edith Semmambo from 1989-2016. Bible cells were began and later yielded a church by names of Kitinkokola and Kiyinda.
In 1995, Rev. Canon Benon and Rev. Canon Edith Semmambo began building Kiweesa Farmer’s Market and lockups. The land where the market is settled was donated by Samwiri Kabanda.
Others that donated land to develop the church include; Bishop Dunstan Bukenya donated land where kintinkokola church of Uganda is Located, Omulongo Enock Kato donated 4 Acres of land in Giinzi, Nalongo Nassali Prossy donated a plot where Kiyinda Church of Uganda is Located.
The current church has two level with the basement as the Sunday school and the main church at the top level. The church has been built by the Christians and all well-wishers within the community. Some of the exception Christians in building this church include; Owek. Enock and Rose Kato, Dr. Jeff & Dr. Lydia Sebuyira and Kiweesa families.
